Gene Guidi

President

For Gene Guidi, construction has been a lifelong calling. He grew up watching his father run a small construction company out of the family home, and in his high school yearbook, even wrote that he wanted to be a building contractor someday. That early dream stuck—and over the decades, it’s shaped the evolution of E.P. Guidi from a small family business into a trusted construction firm known for tackling complex, high-profile projects.

In its early years, E.P. Guidi became known as the go-to builder for convenience stores, completing more than 400 7-Eleven locations. Under Gene’s leadership, the firm expanded into new markets by strategically assembling teams with the specialized experience each project demanded. The approach worked. E.P. Guidi went from being “fast food and convenience store kings” to delivering award-winning work at airports, universities, hospitals, and entertainment venues.

Gene’s involvement extends beyond E.P. Guidi’s walls. He is the former Chairman of both the GBCA Mayor’s Committee on Construction and the GBCA Legislative Committee, and has served on the GBCA Board of Directors, the Managing Committee of the Carpenters' Company of the City and County of Philadelphia, the Board of Trustees at Chestnut Hill Academy, and the Boy Scouts of America Cradle of Liberty Council Selection Committee.

Even after more than four decades in the industry, Gene still looks forward to coming to work. He thrives on the camaraderie of the office, the energy of the field, and the chance to help solve challenges alongside people he respects. Outside of work, he’s a longtime pilot—he first took to the skies in 1968—and an avid golfer who enjoys time on the course with friends.

Asked what advice he’d give to someone just starting out, Gene keeps it simple: show up every day, stick with it, and remember that tomorrow is always a new day. Good days tend to follow bad ones, and in construction, where nothing is built in a factory and things rarely go perfectly, resilience is everything. It’s a mindset that has guided Gene through decades of change, and one that continues to shape the legacy of E.P. Guidi.
