E.P. Guidi served as Construction Manager for Temple University’s Aramark Student Training and Recreation (STAR) Complex, a 110,000-square-foot facility combining academic, athletic, and recreational functions in one integrated setting. The three-story classroom and lab building connects to a pre-engineered metal structure housing an indoor turf field, 12,000-square-foot fitness center, and climbing wall, creating a year-round training hub for students and athletes.
The project also incorporated sustainable site improvements, including a bio-retention basin, underground stormwater management, and a perimeter running track surrounded by landscaped areas and outdoor seating. Inside, specialized program spaces feature a juice bar, synthetic turf field, and advanced training equipment to support health and exercise science programs.
Located on a compact urban site, the project required continuous coordination to manage limited access, deliveries, and pedestrian safety during construction. When underground utilities were discovered to differ from as-built documentation, E.P. Guidi worked closely with the university and design team to reroute steam piping and maintain the construction schedule.
