E.P. Guidi completed the renovation of the Morgan Hall Food Court at Temple University for Aramark Educational Services. The project involved the demolition of four existing food venues and the construction of three new venues within a 3,174 SF space, transforming the dining environment to better serve the needs of the university’s student population.
Completed over Temple’s summer break, the project demanded an accelerated schedule and precise coordination to ensure reopening before the fall semester. The team implemented early procurement strategies for long-lead items and expedited the shop drawing review process to maintain critical milestones.
A major challenge was protecting, salvaging, and reinstalling select kitchen equipment to integrate into the new venues. In addition, after demolition, the existing floors were found to slope in multiple areas; E.P. Guidi developed and executed a plan to infill and level floors by zone to align with new equipment installations without delaying the schedule.
The project also required careful protection of finishes in the adjacent open seating area and grand stair while maintaining safety in an active campus environment. Distinctive venue-specific finishes were seamlessly transitioned into common dining areas, creating a cohesive yet dynamic atmosphere.
The result is a revitalized food court that enhances the student dining experience and provides Aramark and Temple University with flexible, efficient, and contemporary food service operations.
